20 Years of DEWIQuality by Know-how
Wilhelmshaven, 17th of June 2010
In 1990, on the initiative of the former Minister of Economics, Walter Hirche, the government of the Federal State of Lower Saxony founded the German Wind Energy Institute (DEWI) in Wilhelmshaven for the purpose of supporting the aspiring wind industry in Lower Saxony. It soon became clear, however, that a successful scientific support for the local industry meant that DEWI had to extend its activities beyond the boundaries of Lower Saxony, thus living up to the name it had been given.
Since then the company has been closely involved in the rapid development of wind energy, whether in basic research, development of measuring methods, political decision-making or in the numerous tasks and services connected with the realisation of wind farms. Visible signs of the successful international development of DEWI are the eight foreign subsidiaries which were established in order to provide local support for our customers all over the world.
20 years of commitment to wind energy research and to the success of our more than 1,200 customers in Germany and in over 45 countries of the world. We would like to thank our customers, partners and friends who came to Wilhelmshaven on 17 June 2010 to celebrate this event with us and also express our thanks for the many congratulations we received from all over the world.
