Wind Energy Use in Germany

As of 31.12.2001 11,438 wind turbines (WTs) with a rated power of 8,753.8 MW were installed in Germany (Fig. 1). The average installed power per WT therefore is 765.32 kW. In 2001 alone, 2,079 WTs with a rated power of 2,658.96 MW were erected in Germany. Compared to wind energy use in the previous year [1] there was an increase in the newly installed capacity of 59.7 %.
